US man in Chiang Mai arrested after indecent images of children found on computer

CHIANG MAI: -- Child protection agency officials and police arrested a 66 year old American yesterday on charges of having indecent images of children on a computer.
Officials from Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children (TICAC) led by Wachira Kanchanawiphada had a warrant to search the property of Douglas Wayne Canete at 918, Hillside Plaza and Condotel in Huay Kaew,
Chang Pheuak, Muang district of Chiang Mai.
He denied everything but was taken away for questioning to Chang Pheuak police station.
Police found indecent images of children on an ASUS notebook. They also confiscated a host of other equipment they suspect may contain files of indecent images.
The American said that none of the computer equipment was his though he admitted that he lived at the address.
Through an English interpreter he was charged with the possession of indecent images of children and detained.
Manager reported that police suspect Canete of producing indecent images.
