Koh Tao rape inquiry: No evidence found as local cops ask victim to come back
Cops on Koh Tao have issued a letter via Region 8 police to the British Embassy requesting they contact the British woman who said she was raped on the island in June.
The police want to speak to Isabel Victoria Baxter now reported as aged 20 by Thai Rath.
Despite the fact that the alleged victim's mother spoke to Thai media claiming rape they want to speak to her daughter in person about the claims and the evidence that they claim is in their possession.
This is believed to be a shirt that may contain DNA of the alleged attacker.
Thai Rath reported that police teams had interviewed around 20 people yesterday and found no evidence of rape or even robbery.
Miss Baxter had reported robbery to Koh Pangan police before she cut short her backpacking holiday in Asia and returned to London.
Those interviewed were hotel staff, people in restaurants, security personnel and massage shop employees in the area of Sairee Beach where the attack was alleged to have taken place.
No mention of the involvement of Maj Gen Surachate Hakpal - the deputy commissioner of the tourist police known in the Thai media as Big Joke - was made in this report.
He was sent by DPM Prawit Wongsuwan to the island to investigate the woman's claims that appeared in UK media.
