Sanook reported that police in Chiang Mai had arrested a 19 year old man of mixed Thai and US parentage who stole a motorbike and a computer tablet after befriending a man in a pub.

The 23 year old man started chatting with Michael, 19, because he appeared to be a foreigner and was very presentable and looked very smart.

Just hours after meeting on Thursday the victim agreed to take Michael back to his hotel on a Yamaha motorcycle. On the way they stopped at a store and the victim left the keys in the ignition and his bag containing a notebook on the bike.

Michael didn't wait for him to return - the handsome "foreigner" drove off with the bike and the computer.

Police were soon on the case and found the motorcycle in Sitthiwong Road and waited.

Michael soon returned "dressed in a blazer and looking very smart" said Sanook.

He has been arrested and charged with theft.

The suspect lives in Hang Dong and though he has no previous offences to his name police believe the unemployed man was touring round the pubs and clubs of Chiang Mai looking for opportunities to rob people by gaining their confidence with his excellent appearance.
