Officials have been told to gather special teams and create fast-track measures to ensure people can quickly leave Hong Kong to return to Thailand during protests.

Chakthip Chaijinda, the commissioner-general of the Royal Thai Police, has directed the local Thai immigration bureau, tourist police bureau, and Thai airports to quickly prepare.

There are so far no reports of passengers being stranded in Hong Kong, and the airport there has resumed flights.

“With the airport resuming flights, we have to prepare measures to deal with any incident if there is any violence. We have to assure Thai people and tourists that they can travel back to Thailand if Hong Kong closes the airport again,” Chakthip said.
