New Zealand expat arrested for alleged drug dealing and working on retirement visa

Police in Chiang Mai have arrested a New Zealand man for alleged drug dealing and working without a work permit.

 

Police raided a restaurant on Sam Lan Road at 10pm on Tuesday and arrested a 55 year old man.

 

According to Chiang Mai News, police raided the restaurant after they received reports the man was working illegally. 

 

Officers who searched the premises then found a haul of drugs, which included 64 ecstasy pills, almost 10 grams of cocaine and a quantity of ketamine.

 

The man was charged with possession of class 1 and class 2 narcotics and dealing or class 1 drugs. 

 

He was also charged with working in Thailand without the correct visa type and work permit. 

 

The man is currently being held in Chiang Mai Police Station pending further legal proceedings.
